China Online Arrival Card: Everything You Need to Know (2025 Update)

Planning a trip to China? There’s a new and much easier way to enter the country. From the 20th November 2025, travellers will be able ton complete the China online arrival card before landing — meaning no more paper forms on the plane or at the airport.

If you want to make your journey smoother, here’s a simple guide explaining how the new online system works, who needs it, and what to expect at immigration.

Where Do You Fill Out the China Online Arrival Card?

According to the NIA (National Immigration Administration), international travelers will be able to submit their entry details online before arrival through the NIA's official website, Government Service Platform, "NIA 12367" app and WeChat (Alipay) mini program or by scanning a QR code.

Travellers should only use official government or airport-linked websites when submitting personal details. DO NOT use third party websites to “apply” for you for a fee.

How to Complete the Online Arrival Card (Step-by-Step)

  1. Open the official arrival card webpage (best done 24–48 hours before your flight).

  2. Enter your passport details exactly as shown in your passport.

  3. Fill in your flight number and arrival city.

  4. Add your accommodation address (hotel, Airbnb, or host).

  5. Submit your contact details (email or phone).

  6. Confirm and submit the form.

  7. Take a screenshot of the final confirmation page.

  8. Show the screenshot to immigration officers on arrival if asked.

That’s it — no printing needed.

Do You Still Need the Paper Form?

Not if you fill in the form beforehand or at the airport online. Airports will still offer paper forms as backup.

We recommend completing the online version in advance to save time.

Most foreign visitors must complete it, including:

  • Tourists

  • If you’re unsure about your hotel address in China, ask your travel planner or check your booking.

  • Screenshot everything, even the confirmation emails.

  • Many airports have QR codes you can scan on arrival if you forget — but it’s better to do it beforehand.
